Do I need a referral to see Dr Thi Vo?

Yes. You'll need a referral to see DR Thi Vo. The referral allows claims to be made from Medicare and your health fund. Referrals are valid for 12 months from your General Practitioner and 3 months from another specialist.

Is my visit covered by Medicare or by my private Health Fund?

If you have a valid referral from your General Practitioner, then normally part of your consultation fee will be refunded by Medicare. Please note that Medicare does not pay for all your healthcare costs.

Your private Health Fund can only insure you for your in-patient medical care. This includes your hospital admission to give birth to your baby or for an operation.

Where does Dr Thi Vo deliver babies?

What should I bring with me when I come for a scheduled office appointment?

  • Please bring with you:
  • Your Medicare and private health insurance information
  • Referral from your General Practitioner or family doctor
  • List of all medications that you are currently taking
  • If you have had surgery elsewhere, please bring a copy of your operation report and any relevant blood pathology or ultrasound reports.

Are my medical records kept private and confidential?

Yes. Your medical file is handled with complete confidentiality. Our staff are bound by strict privacy requirements and will not release the contents of your medical file without your consent.

What should I expect during my first visit?

During your initial visit, Dr Thi Vo will explain the specific test or procedure you want, help you visualize the results and go over the risks. Dr Thi Vo may do a physical examination and ask you a series of questions to understand your health situation. If you are having a test done, Dr Thi Vo will decide what your diagnosis and appropriate treatment should be after viewing your test results.

Do I need a flu injection when I am pregnant?

Pregnant women are recommended to be vaccinated against influenza for the protection of both the mother and the infant (unless there is a contraindication).

Do I need a Whooping Cough (Pertussis) vaccination?

Anyone who will spend significant time around a new baby (for example, your partner and baby's grandparents) should have a Whooping Cough booster.

Do you have any advice about exercise during pregnancy?

Exercise is recommended during pregnancy. A moderate amount exercise is beneficial for the mother. However, avoid any strenuous exercises or contact sports.
